Healthy Smile!

May 1, 2015 by Tracy

In my last blog post I shared with you one of my takeaways from the International Integrated Health Conference in San Diego, and I talked about being inspired by raw food for wellness. Now it’s time to share another gem of information with you, sadly this one isn’t quite as appetising or pretty… Today, I’m talking oral health!

Smile

A commonly reoccurring theme that stood out to me in all the sessions I attended, was that one of the things the speakers encouraged for total wellness was addressing our dentistry.

Poor health is a result of your immune system being overwhelmed. Bacterial pathogens or toxins are capable of altering a variety of your body’s cellular functions. One of the most toxic areas in the body is the mouth, the mucous membrane lining will immediately absorb almost everything that enters the mouth, and yet oral health is often forgotten when we think about causes of major disease.

Dentistry in the form of root canals and cavitations can often provide breeding grounds for bacteria that can lead to toxicity that remains buried deep within our jaw. Amalgam fillings, which are made of mercury, can also increase the toxic load on your immune system. You may find this previous blog post interesting… Not all metal is precious.

So, what’s the solution? Well I can’t give you an answer, you do need to do your own research and draw your own conclusions. What I can tell you is that all the Leading Edge Experts, Doctors, Naturopaths and Health Advocates who generously shared their knowledge and wisdom at the International Integrated Health Conference, all recommended a dental detox by way of biological dentistry.

Biological dentistry is concerned with the whole body effects of all dental materials, techniques and procedures. It is fluoride-free, mercury-free and mercury-safe. Individualized testing for biocompatibility of dental materials is a must. It insists that all clinical practice be designed of components that sustain life or improve the patient’s quality of life. For the word “biological” refers to life. – Taken from the International Academy of Biological Dentistry & Medicine – Visit the Website

If you would like to do some more research I would recommend you watch this video and form your own opinion. The video shows an interview with Bill Henderson, author of the best-selling book Cancer-Free: Your Guide to Gentle, Non-Toxic Healing.

Where to go from here? I’m still trying to find an answer to this for myself, I have yet to discover a biological dentist that practices in New Zealand, but am still doing my research and will let you know how it progresses.
